Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were groomed this morning and in excellent condition. Grooming will continue until further notice. In an effort to help keep the curve of the virus down and to help keep our volunteers/guests healthy, the chalet has been closed for the season. The snowshoe and ski trails will remain open. Skiing is a wonderful and safe alternative to sheltering in place. Please use the donation box outside the chalet for your contributions. Enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and be mindful of healthy habits.

Skate lanes were groomed this morning. Even with the sun out today the lanes stayed firm because of the single digit temps last night. Tracks still solid with a few blowouts here and there. Groomers will head out tomorrow depending on how much snow falls overnight. It was great to see many folks taking to the trails as spring skiing commences.

A beautiful winter wonderland after about 3" of new snow! I started my trek on skinskis at 25 F right after the groomers finished after 10 AM. The track was nice and deep except for windblown areas, rather slow despite occasional slight iciness from the rain that preceded the snow. I am confident with cooler temperatures that it set up nicely and will be quite a bit faster. After lunch I skated the novice loop and found slightly soft but virtually perfect conditions. Each of the last three Marches I have skied this very scenic trail system. The trail layout is as good as it gets and you won't find better grooming anywhere. But what always strikes me most is the friendliness of all the locals I meet on trail or in the chalet! You have a great community and it seems everyone volunteers, from the groomers to the people keeping the chalet supplied! Finally, the longterm forecast is excellent, as I observed 18-24" of snow base and know the local volunteers will keep grooming as long as they care to ski!

The Pisten Bulley was out yesterday grooming all trails and set nice clean tracks after 4" of new snow fell. All trails in excellent condition. A perfect place to stop before or after the Birkie. Welcome racers, family and friends.
