While all of the heavies were out on the big trail skiing all the corduroy flat we jumped ship and went to the Mukwanago trails. These trails were laid out as a skating twin sister to classic skiing at Rock Lake. These trails have very little flat land but the hills link up great. Trail conditions were outstanding - no one had skied the outer loops and so we enjoyed being the first out. There were a few tree avalanche zone that lumped things up but otherwise it was outstanding. Also, there were some nice wolf tracks to follow around the outer loop. Skate deck and the tracks were in superb condition.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The Mukwonago Ski-Trail is in great shape this year! Just finished grooming the 13.6 Km Loop this afternoon. All the other loops were groomed yesterday. The trail set up hard with the recent cold weather, and I needed to break through the old classic tracks to set the new ones. The classic track on the right hand side of the trail may have a few areas with a soft right-hand pole plant. Other than that, it should be a great ski. The skate deck is flat and should set up nicely tonight for this weekend. There is some animal damage to the trail (deer digging for acorns), but over all the trail is good to go! Enjoy!

I groomed in the 2 inches of fresh powder today. I did not have time to get the 13 Km loop groomed, but the 2 Km, 4 Km and 7 Km are in great shape! We plan to get the outer loop groomed and in shape by Thursday. The skate deck is flat and firm, and the classic tracks are deep and were already firming up when I was finishing up the grooming. Beat the crowds and go experience this awesome trail!

Just finished grooming in the last snowfall from this week and the trail is looking excellent! All segments are groomed and tracked and ready for the weekend. Except ... as I write this we are getting more snow (hopefully it stays at less than an inch).

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Mukwonago trails were cleared, packed, and rolled earlier this week. I was able to get out today and groom the 2 Km, 4 Km, and 7 Km loops. The snow base is about 6 inches deep. The trail is a little bumpy in places from deer digging for acorns and someone walking on a portion of the 4 Km return. There is some debris (leaves, pine needles, and sticks) on the trail in places, so I recommend using B skis. I was able to get most of the deep holes filled in, but it is still a little uneven in a couple places. The skate deck is a little uneven in a few places, but overall its solid and in good condition. The classic tracks should set up tonight with the colder temps, and be solid for the weekend. The 13 Km loop has not been groomed yet, and needs to be rolled yet. We will work on that outer loop next week. I hope you can get out this weekend and enjoy this beautiful trail. I think this might be the earliest its ever been groomed!

Mukwonago trails received about 20 inches of snow during the week of Thanksgiving. The trailhead parking lot was plowed yesterday, and the Forest Service will be working on the trails this week to get the snow packed and the trail groomed. This is a lot of snow to deal with at once, and we appreciate your patience while we work to get the trail in tip top shape for skiing. We will post updates as soon as we are done grooming.
