14F degrees. Skied north from the golf course on a nice relatively flat skate deck with a half inch of new, light fluffy snow. The course was firmest on the south end but decent throughout as the cold overnight temps hardened up yesterday’s groom. Classic tracks set throughout.

Skated from Old 32 lot to Smyth Rd. Fully groomed today with great coverage. Little soft in spots. Heard it was the first run through with the PB north of 32 lot intersection after a few snowfalls because they were conserving snow during the warm up. It worked. Should only get better as it gets skied in.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We ran into more snow then was expected with last night's snow and that is a great thing. Complete trail was Piston Bully Groomed with single track set. With the Piston Bully we were able to widen the trail and fill some low spots. We checked those spots on our way back and they were setting up nicely. Grooming plans: One touchup planned before the weekend. Come enjoy a ski.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skating done from 0–16.5 K (Golf course to Smyth Road) including the large hills behind the golf course at 3-4K. Grooming had been done earlier today including full length classic tracks. It appeared the groomer completed the entire course, 16.5–20 K. Only one pass was made with groomer making the skating deck only 2 m wide between ~7-16.5 K marker. The recent snowfall made the skate deck moderately soft. Abundant snow, no debris and the skate deck was level.

What a treat! Many thanks to ace groomer Jim Beno for grooming up from the golf course to the Old 32 parking lot between snowfalls!! Striders and skaters were treated to terrific conditions with striders enjoying 3/4 depth tracks. Jim mentioned the PB is coming out of the barn tomorrow for a complete re-groom of the entire network. Carpe Skiem!

Old 32 parking lot to the golf course and the golf course loop are groomed for skating and tracked for classic. Excellent coverage. 18 k of great skiing. The rest of the trails have not been groomed since the recent snow. It was worth the trip!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed from the golf course to the 12K mark. The skate deck is firm and fairly flat. The classic track is set throughout. The new snow and icy crust groomed up nicely. The golf course itself is thin.

Skating done from Old 32 through County F (6–20 K). The skate deck grooming ends at 15.5 K which made the gold loop daunting. Plenty of snow is present with 100% coverage and no debris. The skate deck is level for the most part with undulations from 12-15 K. Classic tracks are excellent 6–16.5 K but are snowed in from 16.5–20 K. Overall, a pleasant day in Lakewood.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skating done from old Highway 32 through County F. This is the 6–21K segment. It started snowing about 10 AM and about 2 inches accumulated. There is 100% coverage with a firm base below the powder. The new snow may level out the skate deck. Classic tracks were present but filled in by the new snow. Negligible debris on the trail. Lakewood is currently in very good shape.
