Trail Reports

2020-2021 season
Reports 72 to 81 of 103    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The groomers continue to do a masterful job of grooming. The trails seem to be freshened up on a daily basis. I skied partial green and purple, blue, brown, red, and pink. The grooming has caused some of the dirt spots to be enlarged but you generally can ski around them. The downhill on the pink trail has two dirt spots that are a bit trick to get around.

Grooming

Skating lanes were all groomed today and in good condition. Classic tracks are still in but becoming shallow in spots, they will be reset as soon as we get an inch or two of fresh snow.

The damage to the trails by the OTV has been masterfully cleaned up by the groomers. There are dirt and ice spots but still some great skiing. I skied the brown, red, and purple trails without any real problems with dirt and ice. The classic track looks rough in spots. Beautiful skiing in a rime frost covered forest.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Classic skied from the upper parking in 34 degrees and cloudy sky. Decent coverage across the deck gave skaters the advantage, but a nice glide for the striders in shallow, skied-in tracks. Easily avoidable thin areas, otherwise nice conditions. Carpe Skiem!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Unfortunately the trails were vandalized last night by a 4x4 vehicle and most of the trail system was driven on believe it or not. We were able to groom most of the damage out, but because of thin snow conditions already many of the striding tracks were either driven over or groomed over to cover the damage. While it took many hours to repair the good news is that we still have overall good ski conditions, some thin spots and now even less striding tracks, but we still have a good base and decent coverage. If anyone has any information regarding the damage please contact the DNR or if you see anything please let them know.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
Frustrating news to report this morning regarding conditions at Greenbush. Last night someone drove onto the trails with a 4-wheel drive vehicle and did significant damage to a large portion of the system. Groomers will be out to see what kind of repairs can be made. Use caution and give the groomers plenty of space to do their thing. The DNR and law enforcement were notified.

Skiing Greenbush this morning was kicking and gliding through a hoarfrost wonderland. All the trees were sparkling. Terry and Mark were out early grooming the skate deck and other than some dirt here and there, things are still looking pretty darn good. Until we get some more snow, there is nothing the groomers can do with the classic track, but most of the track is hanging in there, and we did get a dusting last night, which covered some of the dirt and tamed the icy spots. Still rolling at Greenbush!

Classic skied parts of the red, green and purple trails. Very good conditions. The groomers, as usual, worked their magic with thinning snow conditions. Thank you!

Trails were touched up and still had very good coverage and tracks thru out. Any spots with debris could easily be avoided. Did purple, brown and black. Black was just tracked for this season and was in excellent condition.

Skied the trails on Saturday they were in very good shape. Ski classic style and was happy to find the tracks throughout the trail systems. Compliments to the groomers. A lot of people out which is great to see! Continue to encounter hikers on the ski trails. May have to do with the confusing signs right next to one another.
