Skied the outer loop at Lapham today; first time after 2 months of Colorado Nordic skiing. Used my skins; had good grip the first couple K until they gave up due to the cold. Tracks were set well, and fast, but downhills are tough - icy with frozen berms and ridges - exercise caution; felt a little like skiing on concrete. Quite a bit of debris on the trails. Looking forward to some more snow and a warmup. Thanks groomers!

Pisten Bully grooming of the snowmaking and lighted loops has resulted in a magnificent skating surface. Corduroy ridges break down into powder as you glide over them. Creamy smooth - a joy to ski! Thank you’s to our groomers, the DNR, and the donors who made it possible to purchase the machine and build a home for it!

-2ºF with calm winds at 6:30 am this morning. Skied the man-made and lighted loops. Beautiful grooming this morning, a huge thanks to Beattle (as always). Classic tracks were deep and firm, with surprisingly fair glide despite my suboptimal universal wax. Only one skater out there; the corduroy was gorgeous, but very firm. The deer were out in numbers, kindly sharing their home with me and a couple other skiers.

I was out with the Pisten Bully early this morning. I groomed and set tracks on the man made and the entire 5K lighted loop. With these cold temperatures the entire skate deck and tracks are becoming really, really hard. Thankfully we have a brand spanking new Pisten Bully, I worked it hard. I had to make two passes everywhere just to cover the tracks of the PB. The tracks turned out really well and the skate deck should be very skiable. The DNR was out grooming at the same time and the entire trail system off the man-made should be in excellent condition.

Sunny and calm made for a nice ski day, but the cold has made the snow dry and slow. Skate surface is crunchy. Striders reported a lack of glide in the tracks. Smiles were still in abundance.

Looked like lighted loop was groomed this morning. The outer loops were still good skiing. The cold base took the fright out of the downhills. Glide was decent.

The lighted trail was groomed by the PB tonight. The skate deck off the man made loop was tilled and the classic track was left as is. The man made loop was tilled and the classic track was reset. If you don’t mind the cold the trail should be in better condition Sunday then Saturday.

Thanks to the PB grooming the skate deck was good on the lighted trail. Despite the -7 wind chill, skiing was enjoyable.
