Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Dense layer of saturated slush on a firm base. Skate is good to okay. The snow is really showing dirt and debris. No grooming since Wednesday. Track is still okay, but getting worn . It didn’t help when seven turkeys crossed the trail, leave a series of muddy claw prints. Even worse was the dirt tracked onto the trail by crossing hikers. Let’s all try to keep dirt and debris off the trail.

Great conditions for skate and stride on the manmade loop - now 0.7 miles. More loose corn snow than yesterday. No signs of ice. Tracks are solid and deep.

After the big thaw Lapham putting back together their man made loop yesterday, I skied 20 laps on their partial loop which worked out to be 21km so about 1 km loop now. Solid hard base with enough cover for good kick, tracks were in great shape. Lots of folks there so got churned up quite a bit but still not bad considering.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out again at night. The skate deck was groomed and a portion of the classic track was reset. The pond loop is in great shape. We were able to extend the loop a little more again tonight. Now we are almost halfway around the north end of the man made loop. The extension off the pond loop has two way traffic so it is only single tracked on both sides. This should give both classic and skate skiers adequate room.

The skake deck was the fastest this season on the .65 mile man-made loop. The grooming left enough loose snow for edging and controllable skiing. It was easy and enjoyable all of the 15 laps for 10.1 miles. The man-made snow covered the full lower loop but was not groomed from far bend back to the start. Again thanks for the groomers to provide the fantastic conditions.

Beautiful ski day, perfect conditions, it just doesn’t get any better. Manmade Loop and spur are now 2/3 mile - three laps is two miles. Skate deck is firm and flat with a fine corn snow surface. Tracks are solid.

The Snow Makers were back at it Tuesday night and into the morning. We continue to lengthen our man made ski trails. We have many more whales we will level after this weekend’s weather. I had the PB out this evening and leveled a few more whales. I reset tracks and tilled the entire skate deck on the pond loop. We have a mechanical problem with our piping on our pump. At this time we are unable to make snow. Hopefully we get the parts to repair the pipe soon. Then our plans are to start making snow into the woods once the pipe is repaired. Happy Skiing!

Very good skate conditions on the .6 mile skiable man-made loop. Man-made snow was made all around the lower loop but it was not skiable past were the magic carpet comes in. The skate deck was fast and very controllable. It took 15 loops for 15k of skiing.

Very nice conditions on the manmade snow loop this morning. Current loop, which includes an out and back to the snowcat building, is about one kilometer. Skate surface is excellent - fine corn snow. Tracks looked good. Very little debris and only one tiny spot of ice visible beneath the corn snow.

The trail at lapham is improving. The Piston Bully was out again Monday night tilling the skate deck and setting new classic track. Skiers should find a level skate deck. The classic tracks are getting smoother. The snow guns where continuing to make snow on the north end of the loop. Those piles will be spread when the weather allows. Thanks for your patience during these difficult times.
