Happy New Year. The Piston Bully was out again at night. The skate deck was tilled on the lower man made loop. The classic track was left as is. The skiing should be excellent however use caution on the lower end of magic carpet as there are a few thin spots. Grooming plans: The trail will groomed again after the next snowfall and a new classic track will be set.

The Snow Maker‘s have been busy the last few days and we finally can ski into the woods.I groomed, tilled, and set tracks on the entire lower loop, tail end, and magic carpet. Let’s all hope that mother nature brings in the new year with some beautiful white snow. Happy new year and happy skiing!

I skied the Lupo Loop. Trail was in great condition, firm, pretty much no ice. I could see that the groomers were working overtime in the treeline (Thank you!).

Grooming

I was back out overnight and reset the tracks and tilled up the skate deck on the entire 1K pond loop. The Snow Maker‘s had the snow guns fired up at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, and when I left the park there were some beautiful snow whales. Hopefully by the time the sunrises tomorrow morning, it will be a happy New Year’s Eve morning.

Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Solid base with firm corduroy set last night that is breaking up into a shallow powder layer and is very nice for skating. Newly set tracks appear to be best suited for double poling. Many skiers enjoying the manmade loop. The park indicated that they ran the Ginzu around some of the regular trails, and recommended rock skis for those trails. The few skiers who I saw venture onto the regular trails did not stay there long.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
I groomed the entire 1 km Pond Loop Trail. The 3 inches of new high moisture snow has really improved our trail system. At 3 AM this morning it was 32°, when I left the park at 6 AM it was 29°. As the temperature drops the trails should firm up. I reset the tracks and groomed the entire skate deck, hopefully it will be a great day of skiing here. The snowmaking plans going forward should really get us into the woods soon. Grooming plans: With cold temps, the Snow Maker‘s plan on making snow from the first through the fourth. Mark and I plan on leveling and grooming the whales as soon as the weather permits. It’s shaping up to be a happy new year!

Icy and rutted. Not groomed since Sunday. There are skiers here going around, but once was enough for me. I suggest waiting till new snow arrives.

Lapham got about 3 inches of wet snow. Conditions are slushy and saturated. Tracks are wet. A bit of smaller tree debris on the start hill from the pines. No grooming due to wet conditions, but things should improve after the trail dries out and it gets cooler. Skiing off the manmade loop is not recommended.

Smiles all around is the only way to describe trail conditions today on the manmade loop. Grooming last night provided a corn snow surface that was very fast early, but softening and loosing up as the day progressed. Warm weather has taken a bit of a toll, narrowing the trail, resulting in one set of double tracks on only one side of the trail.

Merry post Christmas, I just came in from grooming. The PB seemed magical in transforming our well (to say the least) skied in 1 kilometer pond loop trail. I reset tracks and tilled the entire skate deck. Snowmaking plans: The Snowmakers are ready! Once colder weather arrives, they will be firing up the guns and hopefully finish making snow into the woods.
