2020-2021 season
Reports 36 to 45 of 53    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skate skied all trails today. Shout out to the awesome grooming team for staying on top of things. The west side was in much better condition than expected after the trails were demolished by warm weather and lots of skiers yesterday. Skate deck remains rutty and uneven in certain areas but was overall very skiable. Skate deck connecting west trails to the man-made loop are also groomed and in decent condition. Skate deck was groomed back behind the sledding hill as well but was noticeably softer than the west trails. Rex blue glider was money today and should be great for tomorrow morning as well. Hoping mother nature blesses us with a few more inches soon!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied the West side, it has been groomed with the exception of the middle hill. Skiing was pretty good. The classical had some bare spots in the beginning but they looked pretty good once you got up the first hill. The skate deck was choppy and had a strange quality, neither powdery nor wet. The turn at the bottom of the big hill was pretty messy. I found rocks on the uphill through the soccer field, there is not a lot of depth to the snow like last time and I wonder how it will hold up to heavy use and grooming. I think good skis can be used with caution.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Despite admirable grooming efforts, the skate deck was skied to smithereens on the west side when I went out around 1 pm. Uphills are covered in 8 inches of mashed potatoes, flats are uneven but skiable, and the downhills are rutty. Classic tracks looked to be in near pristine condition - would definitely recommend classic skis for anyone heading out this evening. Rex blue glider was lightning fast. Praying the grooming fairies save the day with an evening and/or early morning pass.

The manufactured 1k loop is still open and in fair condition. Some icy spots. Classic and skate tracks. Lots of people as it's the only option left.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
I skied Elver yesterday and today. Big difference. Since yesterday, most of the west side trails have iced over and are somewhat difficult bordering on treacherous to ski. Moved to the man made loop. Snow was great and it was super well groomed. Bring your good skis for the manufactured loop. Bring rock skis for anywhere else.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
West side trails have been rolled but are pretty sketchy still - rutted and inconsistent firmness. No groomed classic track yet. Word from Yuriy is that they plan on rolling the east trails and grooming in the near future. The man-made loop is currently cut in half due to snowmaking operations taking place on the hill. If you're ok with about a 200 meter loop, the skate deck and classic tracks were beautifully groomed and in great shape.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
This report is for the West side only. At 12:30 the trails had been rolled once, lots of loose snow and a rough skier set classical track but good skiing. As I left the trails were being rolled again so I returned later. Still not packed nor tracked. Not as much loose snow, even without tracks striding was good, skating as well but choppy in parts. There may not to be enough snow to pack or set tracks, I did see a little ground in spots. I did see the grooming sled being pulled into the park as I left.

Morning
Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
Stopped by to check grooming status. No grooming yet. It looks like there is a pretty hard skied-in deck and marginal skied-in classic tracks on the artificial loop. Piston Bullies appear to not have moved since the snowfall.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
No grooming aside from the mandmade loop. Tracks of varying quality skied in elsewhere, but still pretty slow going. The snow is quite deep in many places (definitely deeper than at my place on the isthmus), should make for a good base once groomed.
