Pleasantly surprised by delightful conditions! No sign of the ice underneath the snow here. Deck was soft in spots, but overall I had a very fast ski! Even the hilly blue section that sometimes isn't groomed was groomed and had no rocks poking through. Magic was worked here by the groomer!

Fantastic job grooming (still working while I was there at 11AM). Very nicely packed and tracked, skied classic, still a bit soft but this should be near perfect this weekend.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Bare ground ]
It has been actively sleeting or raining all day today. Trails will be ice covered and dangerous with areas of standing/ponding water.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Went south on beginner trails - mostly icy/crusted snow with footprints from hikers down to the ground in many spots. The trail is mostly covered with snow still. Some bare spots and frozen puddles. Didn't explore northbound expert trails as there wasn't any snow cover headed that way (not sure about what it is like further into the woods). Just went out and back on white/purple. I don't think skate skiing in these conditions would be very fun. Not groomed, but really not much to groom at this time - hopefully soon.

Great ski this morning. Skate deck fairly firm, debris in areas, good coverage, I used my good skis. Once it warmed up it softened up a bit and got quite slower, but still a great day to ski. Parking lot full when I finished at 11. Hoping not too much of base melts with warm air.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomers are back out on the trail! Enjoy today and tomorrow morning because the forecast is for above normal temperatures/freezing drizzle for the weekend. If nighttime temperatures are above freezing, groomers will not go out Saturday or Sunday night - we do not want to damage the good work that is being done today!

Beautiful midwinter condition. Some leaves and soft skate deck. Loving it at -7F! Classic track on green and purple, not all of outer blue loop. All rolled a few days ago. Slow and cold.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails in great condition. New 6 inches of snow made for soft skate deck, slow with cold air, some drifting in open areas, areas of debris from wind, but great skiing. Should firm up after the arctic air leaves.

Great ski this afternoon at Kettle. Groomed, nice skate deck with some light snow mixed on top, only bad area is blue loop mile six to seven, otherwise trails are great.
