[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We are stoked to report that all Upper Spirit Mountain trails are open including the Magney Connector and trail. Thanks to the City of Duluth Parks Maintenance Dept. and groomer Darin for doing our black trails. Snow remains soft but not as soft as Saturday. Come on out and ski til dusk or later!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The 11k trails were groomed and tracked this morning, and now the entire trail system is ready for you. Be aware that during grooming operations brush and branch removal is taking place and the sled and ginzu maybe parked where you least expect it. Moderate snow was falling at noon and the chalet is open and warm. Enjoy.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Fresh snow really helped the grooming efforts tonight at Upper Spirit Mountain. As of 7p.m all trails are groomed and tracked except the 11k, which is scheduled for Wednesday, depending on weather. The snow is light and dry, and dropping temperatures will hopefully set the deck and tracks nicely. There is very little debris on the trails so all that fresh is helping bury it until spring. Dawn patrollers enjoy!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
As of 2 p.m. all trails at Upper Spirit Mountain have been groomed, including the 11K. Any tracks that were in good, stable condition were left in tact. Yesterday’s light snow combined with grooming the extra firm base yielded a firm skiable skate deck today. Organic debris was less today overall. The outer loops have seen little traffic while the CG and 3K loops were being enjoyed by numerous skiers. Remember the trail system plays host to Nordic Spirit Youth League each Sunday afternoon thru February 9th. Enjoy.

I skated all the trails at Spirit Upper this morning. Larry the groomer was out doing a good job grooming the 10k as I skied. The 3k and campground loops had already been done. The groomed trail was new snow slow and the ungroomed snow was 2-3" deep and felt like slow butter. Both made for a great workout. Thanks to Larry for grooming.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Greetings! Upper Spirit Mountain campground, 3K and 5K skate decks have been groomed as of 3p.m. today. The tracks were left intact as they were in good shape. Leaves, small twigs and acorns are numerous on each trail due to recent high winds and no fresh snow fall. However, trails are now receiving a light coating of snow so hopefully that organic matter will be buried until spring! Plans are to groom the 10K on Sunday and re-track all trails if enough new snow falls overnight. Enjoy!

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Spirit mountain trails were very good due to the coating of light snow from last night. If not for that coating, the trail would have been rough, knotty, rutted with a crusty clattering fast surface that would be hard to handle. They have not groomed the past couple of days, someone told us the snowmobile used for grooming had broken down. The trail did soften up a bit in the afternoon but is not a smooth as Magney Snively.

[ B skis ]
I skied on the upper trails. The snow was very slow and the base was not great for skate skiing. Prepare to have difficulty planting your poles with the lack of solid base. There was a fair amount of debris on the trails. I would recommend your B or rock skis.

Trails are in great shape. A few branches down here and there, and a little rutted from the warm up, but generally great conditions and great glide. It didn't appear that they had been groomed recently, but that didn't impact the quality much.

[ Rock skis ]
I went skiing on the lower trails and I would recommend rock skis. There was a significant amount of debris on the trail and there were large cracks and completely bare spots that could catch you if you aren't paying close attention. I was planning on doing a few loops at night but I did one and determined it wasn't worth the risk of damaging skis or poles.
