I skied the outer trails at Spirit today. Nothing there has been groomed yet. There's about 2 inches of snow on top of a layer of ice. There are lots of small tree branches that fell down onto the trail, but not a big deal.

Trails were a bit icy but conditions were otherwise fabulous, especially considering the warm weather this week. Chalet was open.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Good evening. Trails at Upper Spirit Mountain are in good condition. The campground loop has been heavily used and is skied out. The next grooming will take place after possible weekend snow. Watch for updates and enjoy the trails until then.

Very good skiing at upper Spirit Mountain Nordic trails this afternoon. Very few leaves, a firm base and a clean corduroy for skaters. All loops plus campground loop is ready for you! Parking lot is plowed and when the chalet is closed, a biffy is nearby. Thank you to the City of Duluth Parks Maintenance crew for an excellent groom.

What a treat. I arrived at the upper trails around 10am to find all the trails were freshly groomed overnight. The temp was about 25 and the fresh cord was firm but not hard frozen and a little slow. I stepped in the classic tracks on a couple down hills and they were very solid. I can't thank the groomers enough. There is a lot of snow out there and hopefully warmer temps don't melt it all. Get out and enjoy all the trails in Duluth/Superior right now. It is very much like spring skiing.

Trails at Spirit (on top) were in good shape, midwinter condition. I skated but the track looked deep and firm too. Skate deck was very firm.

Treated myself to a ski today after a long stretch prepping for the CXC Cup at the bottom of the hill, and it was perfect! Just a light dusting of new snow in the tracks and deck were no problem, things only got faster once I skied over my tracks from the last lap. Tracks were deep, solid, and laid out well. Skate deck was also nicely set up. Very little traffic, I was the only classic skier and there were maybe 3-4 skate tracks out there as well. Trail is in incredible shape, I skied every K minus the campground loop, which has only been rolled at the time of the report.

Trails are not groomed. Plenty of snow. Very disappointed in the lack of attention to these trails.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Yesterday we packed and rolled the campground loop at Spirit Mountain. Today we groomed and set tracks, knocking down drifts and putting a bit of levelness to this loop. The skate deck is firm and a single, right-hand track is set. Culprits include a few leaves and some wavy spots due to this being sled groomed after nearly 2 feet (60 cm) of snow. The remaining trails at Spirit are groomed but not tracked, courtesy of City of Duluth Parks Maintenance employees. Short connector trails may only have sled compaction but this is minimum. The chalet is not open at this time. A large parking lot off the chalet cul-de-sac awaits your arrival. We encourage everyone to ski the campground loop and outer trails to help pack it down. Thank you!
