Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic

Great conditions at Lester Park. Tracks are really firm as is the skate deck. Little to no debris in the right hand set of tracks. There are some areas on the left in worse shape.

Skate lane is freshly groomed. Classic tracks were still in good shape. Finally warm enough to glide a little out there.

Beth and I skied Lester a t12 degrees F, and a SW wind of 20 mph about 1:30 pm. Grooming appeared to be about 2 or 3 days old, but nice tracks, skate lane appeared fine, but pretty skied-in. Special green waxed short gave plenty of kick, decent glide for way below zero last night. The wind has brought down some leaves and small branches which were a minor nuisance for the most part. Lester is pretty sheltered, and the wind was only in our faces on a few long gradual downhills. A great ski in the woods!

Just beautiful, all trails had a fresh groom, tracks set deep and stiff, a cold but fast day. A few leaf piles throughout the trail but they were very easily avoidable.

About an inch of fluff on the trail this morning. Grooming was in progress as I finished. Was pretty soft but should be great if it sets up.

The trails were in solid shape tonight. Classic tracks were good on most of the course, getting a little sloppy on some turns. Skate deck looked solid throughout.

Lester is holding up well despite lots and lots of use. There's still a solid classic track and the skate lane looked well used but firm and not rutted.

Two or three inches of fluffy lake-effect snow, snowing hard when we got off the trail around 5:30. Classic track was skied in and slow. A friend I saw skating said it was also slow. Really fun to be out in the shaken-up snow globe.
