Had fun at Magney (also skied Spirit). There was about 1 inch fresh snow over a nicely packed trail. The classic tracks looked pretty solid (with a fresh layer of snow). It was fun and reasonably fast. The sunset was gorgeous!

Skated on fresh corduroy left by the groomer. Initially soft but was setting up nicely by the time I finished the system. Everything looked perfect in the classic tracks, but skiers may want to watch what's coming up as they do the downhills. The snow is so high that upper parts of bushes are occasionally positioned over the tracks ready to poke your eye out. Trail should be firm enough provide fast skiing even with the fresh bit of snow that came that night. As good as it gets.

The conditions and grooming were wonderful. Surprisingly, I had this place all to myself today. The snow was fast, and the tracks were cut perfectly for classic. What wasn't great? The tons of leaves that didn't get the message the fall was a couple of months ago and they decided to congregate in the tracks. Pretty much every downhill I was out on on the skate deck. There's nothing to be done about that, though, and I highly recommend getting out on these trails while the getting is good.

Great to see the heavy equipment had been through to groom. Magney was well packed with a little new snow falling. Some drifting but it should be nice skiing all weekend.

No grooming yet, looks like a small handful of folks have been out setting in the tracks, so it's pretty ski-able.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been groomed today, however, it was very "sloppy" grooming. Big piles were left on the skate lane in many spots, the pole plants in some areas of the classic track were at least 3 feet deep, the skate lane is groomed very narrow so anyone skating will damage the classic tracks and the classic tracks were soft as was the skate lane.

What a disappointment! Multiple passes of the light equipment were evident, from the inevitable ridge down the skate lane which is always left by the second pass, and the absurdly soft conditions. Classic was reasonable in most places except for poling, while skating was tougher going. It is disappointing that after a bigger snowfall, the city of Duluth uses the lightest weight of equipment on some of the trails.

It was a very disappointing ski today on trails covered with twigs and no grooming since last week. I was sorry I brought my good skis today. The hoarfrost is absolutely beautiful however, so if you have old skis and don't mind an ungroomed trail, head on over. Be careful on the last hill before the connector as there are some pretty large holes and bumps that could cause a fall. I personally will head to the regularly groomed trails until this is groomed.

Skied over from Spirit Mountain (poor conditions) and found great freshly groomed trail. Classic and skate was great.

We had a great ski at Magney today. We started at Spirit and followed the groomer along the 3k loop to the connector, then skied Magney (the rest of Spirit was not groomed). There were quite a few oak leaves and some debris in the fresh Classic tracks. I skated on beautiful soft fresh corduroy and my husband classic skied (avoiding leaves in the tracks as needed). We both had smiles on our faces!
