Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Because of all the fencing the east side is forced under trees (no snow) and on dirt trail (not covered). The west was better but starting to get thin (around noon). Thanks to the groomers who did the best they could!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied Columbia during the sweet spot this morning - firm skate deck and surprisingly fast snow. The skate deck is holding up very well, with minimal debris or deterioration around dark spots. The exception is the new trail segment joining the east side back to the main trail at the railroad bridge. This is very thin and a little choppy but still pretty easy to navigate. The classic tracks were still pretty decent but with scattered grassy or poor sections where ground has been exposed. All in all, a great way to start a Monday.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Went out today about 11am and there were spots of the tracks where we could see grass poking though. The skate deck was nice. I didn't go over the bridge so I can't speak about that side of golf course.

Firsthand: Both

Kudos to our groomers who have done a great job at Columbia. We only skied the driving range side (west side) and found the skate deck firm with only a few bad spots. The classic track were a little more challenging with quite a few bare spots. All in all, the course is in pretty good shape for the limited snow we have received.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Two groomers made loops at night to pack down the soft skate deck. Some shoveling was done to cover up cart path thin spots. There might still be some thin spots on cart paths to keep an eye out for so I’d still recommend rock skis to be safe (possibly B skis if your careful). It’s really just the hills either side of the railroad bridge that are thin, the majority of the course is nice and white. Ready for another fun day of skiing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Hit the trails early afternoon with temps around 30F and bright sunshine. The trail was already well used and a lot of folks out, most classic skiing. Skate deck was pretty chopped up and soft by this time. Classic tracks looked better. Very good coverage except over a few of the cart paths. As usual, the side east of the railroad tracks (sledding section) was pretty well walked upon. Appreciated the nice grooming and skiing on natural snow is early December!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed Columbia this morning and came together nicely. We are figuring out some new trail restrictions so bare with us as we find the right flow on the clubhouse side. There are some thin spots and it’s likely a bit soft here and there, but very skiable. We rolled last night and set a base that held together well. The cart paths and some uneven spots are the spots to ski with caution but otherwise enjoy! Get out and ski Columbia!

Grooming

Rolled Columbia tonight and was able to capture snow before the winds picked up. Planned to get out again first thing in the morning, but was having some mechanical issues and will have to assess more closely in the morning.
