Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Decent conditions for skate and classic this morning. Several icy and bare spots on both main loops. Skate deck was firm but will get mushy later in the day. All trails are groomed and tracks are set. Get out there and enjoy—you'll be glad you did!

This is a gem of a place to ski. I think all trails are open. The conditions are very icy and hard. Bare ground in a couple of easily avoided places, lots of detritus in the classic tracks. All the slushy stuff from the past few days is now frozen solid, so it is fast. Skate deck looks good and very hard.

As good as it gets! The goal was five loops, but the fresh corduroy was such a dream that I did seven (...um, 32 miles?... Yikes!)
Many thanks to the clutch late-season grooming efforts that made this possible. Should be good for a few more days at least. Enjoy!

They groomed all of the trails this afternoon and the skate deck looks to be pretty good but the snow is a bit crunchy. The classic track was reset and is beautiful in parts but there are some areas where it is shallow and others icy, still had a beautiful outing on my 48yr old Bonna 1800s, got a good kick from Swix blue wax, even on the icy areas.

Icy conditions on ungroomed trails this morning. Skating was nearly impossible given the icy conditions, but the classic tracks set by other skiers were fine for striding or double poling. The trails may be better later in the day as the track softens.

Beautiful day to be out! Slow going on ungroomed course. Tracks are from previous skiers, slow going. Good snow coverage, photo tells it all!

Stop two today. No grooming has been done since Saturday night's snow. Gave it a try but the areas typically groomed were post-holed with human and dog prints, half frozen ruts. Tried skiing a decent looking skied in track but kept breaking through with the skis and getting deep pole plants. Plenty of nice clean snow out there. Might be some nice off-piste adventuring if you have some wider touring skis!

The groomer was out as I was skiing around 10 am, and he was fighting the good fight. Tracks were too shallow to reset and looked quite icy but maybe ski-able for those who like to double-pole. He made a couple of runs on the skate deck and churned up enough ice to make it passable on both loops of the trail. Some spots were quite nice, others were scraping over hard ice, so good skis not recommended.

Bright and crisp classic skiing at Chomonix Golf Course this afternoon. All tracked trails in decent shape with exception of a few intermittent icy spots. Don't ski as often when temp falling between 35-40 degrees, but couldn't pass up abundant sunshine provided!

Perfect morning for skiing Chomonix. Great classic tracks throughout with minimal leaves. The skate deck looked pretty good as well, of course with some footprints in the multi-use area. Glad the groomers finally had something to work with to make it this good! Thank you!
