Quarry Hill trails groomed this morning and classic tracks set. West ball field and connecting trails not set for classic but were rolled. Conditions are good to very good.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All the trails were goomed except for the west ball field and Park Wood Hills. Right around the Nature Center it's an "ice rink" and grooming was not possible. But, once away from the Nature Center the classic track was re-set and the skate deck was groomed. The classic track is good in some areas and shallow in others. After the rain and the warm temperatures the surface was "boilerplate". The Ginzu's knives would only cut below the surface. The result was a pretty good skating deck (considering).

Grooming

All Quarry Hill trails were groomed this morning and are in great shape for skiing. The classic track is thin in some places but is still very skiable.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Overall trail conditions are excellent. The classic tracks are washed out in about 10% of the trail, but otherwise in good condition. Trail was softening up today in the warm temps, but still plenty of base and great conditions overall.

The skate lane was refreshed on all trails; note that a majority of the classic track is good to very shape.

Grooming was in progress. Classic tracks are excellent. Great job by Tom McKinley! Enough good snow to cover ice.

Beautiful morning on the trails at Quarry Hill after the snowfall. The trails were well-covered with new snow, but hadn't been groomed yet early this morning, so there wasn't much clean gliding going on. Classic track was only intact in a few places.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The snow that has fallen over the last couple of days has resulted in improved conditions. There has been no new grooming, but there is a decent track over much of the trail that has been formed as a result of skiers doing laps on the previously laid-down classic track. Several people were also out for some skate skiing and they seemed to be getting decent glide through the soft new snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions for classic skiing are very good at Quarry Hill Park. I would estimate that about 70% of the classic track is in excellent condition. The track is minimal on about 15% of the trail and nonexistent on about 15% of the trail. It is a very fast track but it is not icy. Thanks, groomers!

Easy skate ski through the entire trail this morning. Perfect conditions as the trail had been recently groomed, smoothing out any icy patches. Skate deck was firm and flat. Given the temperature, the trail was lightening fast as well. A real treat! Another excellent grooming effort! Thank you!
