Grooming was in progress. Classic tracks are excellent. Great job by Tom McKinley! Enough good snow to cover ice.

Beautiful morning on the trails at Quarry Hill after the snowfall. The trails were well-covered with new snow, but hadn't been groomed yet early this morning, so there wasn't much clean gliding going on. Classic track was only intact in a few places.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The snow that has fallen over the last couple of days has resulted in improved conditions. There has been no new grooming, but there is a decent track over much of the trail that has been formed as a result of skiers doing laps on the previously laid-down classic track. Several people were also out for some skate skiing and they seemed to be getting decent glide through the soft new snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions for classic skiing are very good at Quarry Hill Park. I would estimate that about 70% of the classic track is in excellent condition. The track is minimal on about 15% of the trail and nonexistent on about 15% of the trail. It is a very fast track but it is not icy. Thanks, groomers!

Easy skate ski through the entire trail this morning. Perfect conditions as the trail had been recently groomed, smoothing out any icy patches. Skate deck was firm and flat. Given the temperature, the trail was lightening fast as well. A real treat! Another excellent grooming effort! Thank you!

Groomer is on trail this morning. Conditions look good, could be icy in spots by look of things.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The skating deck was refreshed this morning. The classic track was still in pretty good shape so it was left as is. 37 degrees at the time of writing this report. The snow was already starting to soften.

Trails were in great shape. The snow had set up in the cold and was firm by this afternoon. Our kids loved the nature center too. Hard to beat great skiing, snapping turtles, fish, and snakes all in one scenic stop!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Grooming completed this morning after a 1.5" snowfall last night. Trails are in good condition other than occasional leaves from recent high winds in some areas. The recent snow has not had time to set up completely but the base is solid. Classic track set throughout.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
It is a beautiful day to get out and ski! The coverage is excellent, but there are a lot of twigs and sticks on the trails as a result of recent high winds—hence the recommendation to use B skis. There are essentially no machine-set classic tracks, perhaps as a result of the wind. I mostly did clockwise laps on the 1 km loop closest to the Quarry Hill Nature Center (see attached screenshot). There is a shoulder of soft snow over about 50% of this loop and a skier-set track has been set on this shoulder. If you classic ski this loop clockwise, you will spend a lot more time in the track than out of the track, because most of the part of the trail that has a track is uphill. I was able to get good glide when I could see in the track. Outside of the track, it is pretty slow because of the very cold temperature. The other advantage of skiing the 1 km loop is that the trees provide very good protection from the cold wind over most of the track.
