Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The classic Trail north of the drive was in good shape this morning with just a few short icy spots and medium speed. Typical places for debris and Trail wear. Thanks groomers!

Skated two loops at sunset. The skate deck appeared to be groomed today and has firmed up nicely with just a few soft spots. Great new snow coverage throughout - wonderful conditions for BD - thanks groomers!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Anne and I skied the groomed track on the golf course side (maybe 5k) at noon today. Packed powder, very good conditions for striding and the track is in good shape. Skate deck seemed a tad soft, should improve with age and use. Coverage is good but snow depth varies due to the high winds during the snowfall. So great to have this groomed skiing nearby. Thanks to the groomers.

Skate and classic excellent. Groomer made several passes at about 1:00 PM. Snow was compliant later in the day with warmer temps. Great work by park staff!

Very good snow cover. A bit soft in some spots. Yesterday at dusk skiing was great with 20+ cars in the lot. This morning at 7 am and -1 temp, the snow was very abrasive and slow as expected. The classic tracks are excellent on the golf course. Kudos to the Milwaukee county parks staff for the excellent grooming.

As of 9:00 this morning the trails are not groomed so your best to bring the snowshoes. Although it's certainly skiable and you'll get a great workout there are a few spots where you will get stuck because of the depth of the snow. Once groomed the conditions should be perfect!

Blowing and drifting snow was covering the skate deck Tuesday evening, in many places obscuring the trail. Deck is a good thickness, but on the softer side. Poles occasionally punching through to asphalt. If you have poles with larger baskets, use those. If you are skiing after 5, consider bring a bright headlamp. So much drifting snow on trail Tuesday evening made it impossible to stay in V2 on more of the course than usual.

Afternoon
Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All ]
Groomer passes made around 12-1 PM. Higher winds will cause drifting across the skate deck. This evening got a report that classic was good on skate deck. Should only improve from here.

I was pleasantly surprised with the conditions and left with a smile. I was surprised how much was covered with snow/ice. Only spot not covered was about 3 foot of a wooden bridge which I walked carefully over. The rest of the dirt spots were easy to avoid. With that said it was very crusty and tracked, icy in many spots, but I was happy to ski close to my house. I am glad I tried it and will go again when I don't have the time to drive to Lapham peak.
