Located in the Chippewa National Forest, semi-primitive. Contains Joyce Estate, a historic northwoods retreat with log and stone buildings of Adirondack architecture. Rated beginner/intermediate.

Firsthand: Classic Observation 
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Really good considering snow amounts. Track skied in but rare bare spots. Went to north spur which was great. One hill near Moore lake I needed to walk down but rest was very skiable. Didn't ski Doan trail but looked like bare spots from what we could see.

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Rolled and feathered Doan Lake Trails and Trout Trail from Doan Lake intersection to Joyce Estate. 1 1/2" light snow today. This is the third time the trails have been rolled this season. Doan Lake trail is still a little bumpy but solid base and good snow coverage. Very few minor thin spots under big pines. B skis. Trout Trail has exposed gravel on hills along Moore Lake and last uphill before Joyce Estate. Other sections are much better. Rock skis. Need more snow before we can set tracks. Sorry, but I don't have a USFS key yet so I can't get in or out the South or North Trailheads.
