Love some snow this valentine weekend! Got about half an inch Wednesday. Trails were groomed last Friday and in excellent shape. Poll plants may be soft in areas (too much snow!?) and a little drifting in the open. We've got openings at the NFL in February so come on up and enjoy the most snow in 20 years!

Loved skiing the Flathorn / Gegoka trails. Excellent trail system with extensive trails for all levels. Very well marked with clear signage every kilometer. Natural setting, lots of evidence of wildlife and excellent snow. Challenging turns and dips on some of the green trails but very accessible to a new skier. Stay at the National Forest Lodge on weekends for an amazing apres-ski experience. Three meals served daily, all-inclusive, and live music on Saturday nights. All fellow skiers. Your choice of rustic accommodations or traditional housekeeping cabins and vacation rentals. No better value anywhere!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
No significant additional snow in the past 2 weeks. Trails remain excellent. Poll plants will be soft. Our narrow trails make it very difficult to groom until we receive 2-3 inches of fresh snow. In fact, grooming over the old tracks typically does more damage than good. Enjoy the deepest snow in 20 years!

Gorgeous, soft, silent, single-track trails thru classic northwoods terrain: cedar swamps to mature pine ridges. Closest to heaven I'll ever see.

Stopped at the Flathorn-Gegoka Trails on the way to the Ely High School Race. Trails have loads of snow on them, but were not recently groomed. Lots of skied in tracks, but lots of snow nonetheless. Pole plants are really, really deep. If you want to ski fast this might not be your place, but if you want a pretty place to ski with loads of snow, right on.

Been fairly quiet since the big MLK storm. Added another inch this past week. Trails remain excellent. We've got openings at the National Forest Lodge in February so come on up and enjoy the most snow in 20 years!

Very enjoyable classic single track and double track trails. Trails looked to be groomed several days ago with several inches of light powder on top made for smooth silent skiing in the woods. Pole plants were a little soft but kick was great.

Incredible combination of moderate temperatures (blue wax) and fresh deep snow for the best skiing in several years. Trails in great condition. Well packed base and plenty of fresh powder. Great meals and lodging at National Forest Lodge with 50 MN Rovers to ski and snowshoe.

Classic doesn't get any better than this. Lots of fresh cold fluffy snow, freshy tracked on deep base, in a beautifully forested setting. You can ski out your door to all of this from a National Forest Lodge cabin.
