Trail Reports

2019-2020 season

Skied a few laps on the snowmaking loop which was fast but not nearly as hard as Tuesday morning. Lots of people out enjoying the trails! Took a lap around Lake and Hill loop in natural snow. Fair amount of leaves and sticks on the wooded part. The more open areas on the big hill and around the picnic areas were pretty well covered. It was a little bumpy but definitely skiable and fun. Thin coverage in a couple of places where the trail crossed the road, but I didn't have to take my skis off. Hoping the next round dumps a bunch more snow!

Reporting on the man made snow loop: The Star and Willow creek loops are in great shape - the snow was a little soft at the turn by Frogtown. Skate deck was firm; the classic tracks well set without any ice.

Lake trail was in pretty rough shape. Lots of dirt pulled up during grooming, and four bike path crossings are exposed. Watch out at the bottom of the hill after the Lake and Hill trails rejoin. Passable with caution on rock skis.

Midday at 32, windy, I skied just the 2 km snowmaking loop on my first outing of the season. The deck was intermittent groomed, drifted, windblown, etc., and the tracks looked hit and miss too, but heck, as a fair weather skier living on the south end of town, what a treat to get this snow in November. As my records indicate, this is the best (and only) skiing I've done at Hyland this century.

noticeable leaf litter this morning - the oaks are starting to drop more leaves. The trail conditions are nothing to complain about this time of year. We have snow to ski on which is nice. Some of the corners and hills were turning to sugar snow as it is getting chewed up. Three Rivers was out checking ski passes.

Trail conditions are Hyland were perfect this morning. The classic track was well set and firm. The skate deck looked great. The snow guns were hard at work in the start area.
