Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skate deck was hard with a 2-3" layer of wet snow. Not too bad of conditions for the temperature and this early in the season. And the Hyland crew was out positioning the snow guns! Cut the session short due to an extremely aggressive ski team making it dangerous for others to ski.

Despite a temp of 40F this morning, skate skiing was remarkably fast and firm at Hyland today. FastWax HS-20 Blue worked great. Thanks to the Hyland grooming team for doing their excellent work in the middle of the night!

Great early morning ski at 5:30am. Deck remains well intact, packed, and gliding smooth. Downhills had some mixed dirty snow spots on the top layer; no concerns of thinning base. Love early morning, early season skiing with beautiful groomed corduroy on the freestyle base providing great bite, no sliding around. Tracks were holding very strong and gliding quick with very abrasive, granular snow as a result of this recent increase in moisture levels. Temps look to drop this week so be ready for freezing surface.

I went with low expectations after a warm day yesterday, but was pleasantly surprised. Tracks were nicely packed, clean, and fast. A few dozen individuals skate skiing at 6:00am.

Skied classic and skating in afternoon. Skating was quite good, well groomed. Moisture kept the snow firm. No complaints for this time of year. Hardly anyone there. 1.8k loop -- only two uphills.

For November skiing really great conditions at Hyland. Trail was firm and well packed classic tracks were well set but with the drizzle wet and slippery. Three laps is just shy of 5K.

Was great to be back on snow at Hyland today. Star and Willow (1.7 K?) open with manmade snow. Good snow, some leaves due to wind, but not bad Nov 16!
