As good as it gets at Hyland. The grooming was perfect and the sun was shining! Skied every trail today from north to south and east to west. A spectacular day of skiing. Kudos to the groomers who always get it right at Hyland.

Excellent conditions and grooming! I skied classic on some of the natural snow trails (Hill and Lake) and all the snowmaking trails. I was happy to see that they had two parallel sets of classic tracks from Boulder Ridge back to the race start area. When I'm skiing with friends or family, it's nice sometimes to be able to ski side-by-side. And there's still plenty of room for skating (which I also do at least half my outings). I know there's probably not enough room on all the trails for two sets of classic tracks and skate deck, but where it's wide enough, it's nice to have it.

Conditions this morning were excellent as usual on the man made loop, classic skiing. However contrary to grooming reports the natural snow trails are not groomed every night and the classic tracks were quite washed out and full of debris especially on the lake side trails. Hopefully with the new snow they will be able to reset deep tracks.

Natural snow trails in great shape before new snow late morning. A few places with some dirt in the tracks, but I was skating. There was some leaf litter, particularly on Oak Knoll and the Lake Loop, less so on Hill Loop, North Loop and Nature Center Loop..

Manmade was pristine. Snow was on the verge of losing the squeaks at 8AM and running faster than expected. Lake loop was not regroomed and had a fair amount of debris - I'd say B skis. North loop was groomed and in much better shape (B+).

Parking lot was pretty lonely pre-dawn at Hyland! Only one car in the lot when I arrived at 5:45! Classic skied a few loops on the man-made trail. Track was great and kick was great with Swix green. Thought about a spin on the Lake Loop but it didn’t look like there was track set but it did have fresh corduroy. I was the first one up Boulder Ridge this morning and the moon was up above the track (see picture). Cold morning!
