Got out the door extra early this morning with the goal of having new classic tracks set for Ahvo who likes to start his ski outing at 7:00. Mission accomplished and he seemed to be happy with the results. The early bird skaters also seemed to be enjoy the fresh grooming on the skate deck. And, as the old Alabama song lyric says, "Close enough to perfect for me"! Another big sectional meet scheduled for tomorrow. The meet organizers have arranged for exclusive use of the trails until late afternoon.

Natural snow on gold and silver trails were groomed and a track was set. One grooming pass was made to the skate deck on the ski games course.

Skied mid afternoon and found the WC/Gold/ trails to be in excellent condition. Machine made snow trail were even better. The classic tracks were set and firm, a few spots a bit shallow on the natural snow trails. Jumped across the Battle Creek Road and skated the Ski Games Trail and again found trails in excellent shape. There are oak leaves starting to drop but weren't a problem yet.

Minnesota State High School League: Nordic Section finals will take place on Tuesday, February 7th and Thursday, February 9th, from 8am - 4:30pm. These two meets are exclusive use of the trails. There will be a high volume of skiers and spectators in this area on both days. Ski games side will be open to the public.

Man made snow trails freshly groomed early Sunday morning including both skate deck and classic tracks and remain in excellent condition. Our big week at BC continues after our grand opening yesterday. There will be HS Sectional meets on both Tuesday and Thursday. The sectionals will involve the entire man made system plus the Silver trail segment of the natural snow trails. The meet organizers have secured an exclusive use agreement for both of these days so the trails will only be open to the public in the evenings. A good day to come and cheer for some of the top HS racers in our area.

The cold cold air of the last couple days and lots of skiers on Thursday combined to create some very hard conditions this morning. Fortunately it was a bit warmer at 4:00 am and the Pisten Bully came through to produce some pretty good corduroy and some beautiful classic tracks. Big grand opening celebration at 1:00 pm. Come by and join us for some cookies and hot chocolate!

Finally some warmer temps (10 degrees at 2:00 am) and some more workable snow. The man made trail and the Silver trail were groomed for Thursday's HS Conference championships. The entire skate deck was groomed and tracks were set on all except for the "A" climb, the Silver trail and the stadium area. Racers can expect firm and fast conditions. Non-racers please note that the pond loop is single tracked only and that the tracks for the remainder of the course start at the top of the first hill south of the stadium. These changes were made to facilitate the HS races which are all skate technique. Going to be a busy day at Battle Creek, everyone play nice please!

Classiced all the trails except the ski games trails. The manufactured snow was exquisitely groomed, as it always is. Section skiers are really going to get a fine venue. The natural snow trails were groomed too, but the tracks were a little hard and shallow. Thanks for all the hard work!
