To accommodate snow making operations the stadium portion of the trails will be closed tonight at 10pm and reopen Thursday morning at 5:00am. All other trail segments will be open. Come on out and enjoy.

Refreshed all naturall snow trails this morning including the Ski Games trail. Most classic tracks are in good to excellent condition. Skate deck was hard pack, I spent time softening it up. Should be very skiable.

Another morning of grooming that produced great results. Both the skate lane and the classic tracks on the man made trails were renewed. Please note that the unusual break in the classic track at map point 2 is an accommodation for todays high school meet which has requested a somewhat unusual routing. Things will be back to normal tomorrow morning.

Kudos to John and the groomers at Battle Creek for perfect grooming! I warmed up on the 5k loop. The natural snow trail was hard packed so I stuck to the nice big hills and perfect grooming on the 3.3 K machine made loop for some skate intervals. I started at bottom of the first big uphill and ended at the top of downhill section - my reward was this gorgeous sunrise at the end of each interval. Thanks so much to Ramsey County and all those who worked for years to bring this to the east side!

High school meets this week: Math & Science Academy Nordic ski meet will take place on Tuesday, January 24th, from 4 - 5:30pm. SEC Nordic ski meet will take place on Thursday, January 26th, from 3 – 5pm. Trails are not closed to the public, but be aware this area will experience a high volume of skiers during the timeframe of the meets.

Skied every inch of Battle Creek today, with the experience as expected: superb grooming and conditions on all machine-made snow trails. Very good conditions on the hilly back trails, with the steep downhills manageable but still an experience. Ski Games 3k is a nice change of pace on open natural rolling prairie; the deck is a bit uneven and soft in some places, but still worth it for variety. Multiple high school teams out: SPA, MPA, Central and Roseville, but spread across the vast terrain. After several years away from Battle Creek, it's now my go-to, and nothing beats those hills.
