I arrived to an empty parking lot at 7. Stepping out of the car, I saw a small flock of goldeneyes on the pond and heard red-winged blackbirds, killdeer, mourning doves and even the peenting of a woodcock. The final clue was seeing Ahvo out for a walk in the woods. Winter is over at BC. I still gave it a shot but found even the prairie hill too rough for me. So I finished the year the way I started it, with an hour of loops around the pond, which was very skiable with my fishscales.

Another great day of skiing this morning at Battle Creek! The grooming was perfect again with firm fast tracks early in the morning. Thanks to Ramsey County and the grooming crew for staying open longer than any other park. They're efforts where appreciated by over 100 people today. See photo of the parking lot.

If I hadn't missed the last week of good skiing at Hyland from being sick, I probably wouldn't have woke up super early and driven 60 miles to get 1 last ski in before work. So glad I did, conditions where excellent and I can end the season on a high note. Was also fun to ski somewhere that was new to me. Thank You for keeping the grooming going as long as you could!

Saw that they groomed last night so I thought I would check it out. Not too shabby. We arrived at noon so the snow was pretty soft (good resistance workout). My wife did classic on the green dots and I skated the blue and cowabunga. The snow was fast in a few spots followed by soft slow areas, making for some balance excitement. Overall I would recommend the drive out.

What a great end to the season for the Newbie skate skier. Excellent conditions this morning! Wish I would have bought my skis earlier this winter, lots of fun! Thanks to the great groomers at Battle Creek.

Excellent conditions at Battle Creek! I was a little late for the sweet spot conditions, but it was still great. Thanks again for all the groomers and staff that contributed to such a great first season of snow making at B.C. Found: I found a pair of Fischer yellow and black skate boots sitting near the parking lot. I left them with the staff in the community center.

Wow. Just wow! Drove over from the west side after reading all the amazing reports and BC didn't disappoint. That cowabunga trail - phew! What away to end the season - thank you groomers!

Just one word - incredible for the last day of the season. Sun slowing things down when I was leaving at 11 but I nevertheless increased my mile pace by 30 seconds on my second, later lap so it still was pretty good. Thank you Ramsey County and groomers for giving us such a great end to the season.
