The conditions were superb today. Skate deck was solid and tracks were set. Perfect temps and conditions for a fast skate in the woods. Could not ask for more. A always a great place to ski.

After being gone from the Northwoods for 5 years, it was refreshing to go skiing at Afterglow again and find the high standard of grooming has not changed. I skated nearly all the trails and found a solid base with light dusting of snow on top (although that changed overnight). Conditions were great and I anticipate them remaining so. Trails are leveled nicely, so should ski well going forward. Thanks for all the work Pete!

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Excellent conditions. All skate lanes groomed. More than half of the classic tracks reset. Phelps trail still closed due to flooding. Should be able to open that soon. Wolf tracks all over Bob's Trail #5. I could count at least 4 sets of tracks traveling together. Snow stopped yesterday morning and I was grooming just after dark so these tracks were made during the day, yesterday. Trails have been groomed 24 times this season.

Open to the public at noon. All Afterglow trails skate and classic tracks have been groomed twice since 2am. Excellent conditions exist. All trees and branches have been removed from the trail. 8" new. Phelps trail has a 50 feet section with water to the surface so we were unable to groom the Phelps trail.

Excellent skating on the trail: firm base with tilled up coarse sugar. Fast, flat, and very edge-able, downhills just great, no chatterbox pizza wedge needed. Pete, an alchemist for sure, took prospective boilerplate and turned it into gold! Classic track was flat, fast and firm. Start Oslo, a hard wax/klister mix, worked just fine at 26-34F on tilled up transformed base. Leaves and needles did not slow the glide much.
