Beautiful sunny day at Nine Mile. Classic skied on deep set tracks. Deep base of snow has allowed all trails to be nice and level. Few spots had some oak leaves.

Perfect conditions for skate and classic. We have a deep base that has been extensively worked to give a smooth consistent surface. All trails in excellent shape. Thank you groomers!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic skied the 10 K loop twice, and Leo's Loop once. Trails are in mid-winter form. Deep tracks set throughout the entire system that I skied. Pole plants were firm. Glide was a little slow, especially in the morning, but that was due to the temperatures in the low teens. ( Never had to herringbone on any of the hills.) What a bonus to have this type of skiing in Wisconsin in December.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We have been grooming for better than a week, but trails are not yet officially open during the day because of firearms deer season. Conditions are good to excellent for both skate and classic. Nine Mile will be opening at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16th. Chalet open 9-9 Monday through Friday, 8-9 Saturday, and 8-5 Sunday. Grooming plans: Since we are not officially opening until Monday, we will be grooming tonight, tomorrow night and Sunday night with the expectation the entire course will be addressed.

Night
Firsthand: Both Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The inner loops are groomed for excellent, firm skate and classic. Lights are on for night skiing, but a headlamp can get you onto other groomed trails at night. The county website update states trails are closed for day skiing since the forest trail system is officially closed, yielding to deer hunting, until December 16 (then the chalet will open).
