Classic tracks were faster than yesterday but lots of leaves from high winds in the tracks. I chose to do most of the downhills on the skate deck. This was only a little slower than staying in the tracks and avoided unwanted sudden ski slowing. Thanks again to groomers.

Beautiful Bluebird day at Lakewood. Brand new tracks made this morning. Some of the tracks were soft and/or shallow so if you are a clydesdale on 210cm skis you might not hold the tighter downhill curves! No worries, though, as stepping out into the skate lane is easily done. Skaters looked like it was a great day too -- not lightening fast but looked like they had good push and decent glide.

Delightful conditions! Was here Saturday for the first time and was overjoyed at how great conditions were and the perfect mix of rolling terrain. Came back today and conditions were about the same. Pack was a little on the hard side and would benefit from grooming, but really hard to complain. Some of the downhills were getting a bit faster today with the harder pack and less fluff. Classic tracks looked good everywhere too. Loved this place and great grooming job!

Both groomers were out tonight. Everything north of old 32 was groomed with the Gator and Yellowstone. The golf course loop including the hills was done with the PB. Grooming was done late so the trail could set up for good skiing tomorrow. Some areas should be very good to excellent but, because of leaves, I will call the overall conditions good plus.

Great ski this morning. Skied from golf course out to 18Km classical. There was a little debris in the tracks but very nice. The groomer came through and resurfaced the skate lane, it looked great.

Terrific skiing this morning at Lakewood! Started skating at 8:30 am in 28 degree temps, finished classic skiing at noon (38 degrees) in beautiful sunshine! Plenty of snow! The course was groomed on January 1st. Full depth tracks for classic technique. A special Thank You to the grooming team for their work, and to all those who removed fallen trees and branches from the epic late July wind storm that hit the area this summer! Carpe Skiem!

Many skiers started their new year new year with a great ski at Lakewood today. Classic track was great. Some of the skate lane was pristine and some was a little soft. With the heavy use and cooler temps tonight skate lane should firm up nicely. Complete system was Piston Bully groomed today. 99% of the trail is open. One small section on the far north end is closed because of a water issue.

Grooming was still underway but they expected to have the full system groomed and tracked by the end of the day. Pure nordic heaven today. Deep plaster cast tracks with a little ice at the bottom but still a Swix Blue kind of day. I did use my race skis with no issues. The skate deck looked a little soft but should setup now that it's been groomed and skied on a bit.
