Very nice early season conditions for skaters today! Full coverage with the exception of a couple hundred yards of thin conditions while in the pines on the far end of the purple loop. Tracks at 50% depth set on portions of the Brown loop. Skied 8:30-1:15 in 25 degrees. Grooming team was out! Carpe Skiem!

Groomed for skating and few trails with tracks. Did most of purple, brown, and green without the hills. Trail was well covered with snow with the few bare spots and debris not a problem. It was my 1st time this season and we did 10 miles. About 20 cars in both parking lots as we met many skiers enjoying the nice conditions.

I did a partial rainbow of the trails this morning (a section or all of each of the trails). Great skate deck for the most part. Some areas showing signs of wear with dirt, leaves, and pine needles showing. The red trail has dirt showing in a downhill area so be cautious. The purple trail has some exposed pine needles/dirt under the pines. The brown trail has two big tire ruts at the bottom of the last downhill before the merger with the purple trail (see photo). It is possible to avoid the ruts but stay alert in this section. Some people are classic skiing but there is no groomed classic track. A few snow flurries falling as I left today.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Terry Knier and I groomed in tandem today. We couldn't get out until late morning and finished early afternoon so this report will inform a morning ski tomorrow. The snow is holding up well. Worst areas are in the pines on the green and purple loops. Otherwise all areas are well covered. The wet areas are now frozen thanks to cold temps and Jeff W rolling the trails on Sunday. We did two passes on all trails today: I went ahead with the Ginzu and tilled very lightly. Terry followed and tilled with the lighter Tidd tech. It was a gamble with the very thin packed covering but it payed off. I skied all of the trails afterward, hence the late report.

Started at 10:30 AM on the Green loop. When I came back around Terry Knier was out on the groomer. The rest of my ski was on primo groomed trails! Thanks Terry and all who made this possible! The pines are very thin but passable. There are a few rocks and stones visible in the green trail hills but avoidable. Overall decent early season skiing!

Worth the drive to get in some early season skiing! Surprisingly nice coverage along the purple and brown trails (I did not ski the interiors loops). Some easily navigable thin spots on purple trail, brown trail was in good mid-winter condition. 28 degrees. Carpe Skiem!

Decent skate deck on the purple loop with only a few icy spots. Some debris, but mostly avoidable. All loops appeared groomed and the lights were on before dark. No classic track. Beautiful scenery with snow still stuck on the trees. Definitely worth the drive!

The brown and beginners loops were groomed this afternoon. All trails remain open and in fair to good condition. Grooming plan: Wednesday all trails should be groomed again by early afternoon.

Arrived at Greenbush this morning for first ski of the season and was treated to a painted forest, a blue sky, and freshly groomed trails. Nordic Heaven once again. Looks to be 6" of wet heavy snow that was rolled yesterday and then groomed this morning after last night’s cold temps. Full coverage, a few icy spots, some tree debris, but could use good skies. No classic tracks, yet. Big thanks to groomers for this huge effort getting trails to these conditions! Be advised that DNR has closed shelter at this time due to state COVID-19 protocols.

Had a great ski at Greenbush this morning! Looked like all the trails were groomed thanks to the efforts on Jeff Welsch and Mark Sharon! There were very few thin spots in the pines but very passible. Very good early season skiing. Hoping the cold weather continues!
