Was amazed driving in early from the Madison area. No snow was to be found until a few miles from Lapham, where probably at least 2 inches or more of fresh, real snow was still on the ground. The Piston Bully was just finishing up grooming in the new snow. There was a solid deck with a perfectly groomed trail, except for a couple of speed bumps made from newly man-made snow. It was a worthwhile drive. Thanks to the groomers for the great job you do.

The man made loops where Piston Bully groomed this morning. The skate deck will be a little soft. New classic tracks were set. They have an icy bottom but should be full depth.

About 4 inches of wet snow this morning made for slow going for skate and stride. Skating was hard work, mixing the new snow in with the moist base. A few icy spots with new snow on top. Tracks are soft and easily damaged, but kick with skin skis was good. Still, a good ski on a nice day.

The man made trails have survived another warmup and rain event. The Piston Bully was out renovating the skate deck and classic tracks. The skate deck is in great condition with full coverage and just a couple of icy patches that can be easily avoided. The classic tracks are in good condition for the most part. There are a few patches of ice and a few bare spots but overall not too bad. Grooming plans: The snow makers will be out Saturday night starting around 7 pm. This will be a short shift and will wrap up sometime early Sunday morning. Expect some trail closures to go into Sunday afternoon.

The trail will be soft today. The course is set for the Wednesday races. We still have 100% coverage but there are a few spots that are getting thin and icy.

Nice conditions for skate and stride. A little soft on the skate deck, but firming up as the sun went down. Old tracks are still good with a slushy bottom that gave good kick on my skin skis. Some leafy debris, but mostly very clean. It would be great if we can keep it that way.

I took the Piston Bully out on the man made tonight. I retilled the skate deck but left the tracks. Mark got the playground open earlier so lots of room on the trails!

About a 1.25 mile loop of trail was in good condition. Quite fast on the downhills and a bit slower on the up hills. I tried going on part of the trail without man made snow and it was not great but possibly fine with rock skis.

After a busy day at the park the trails were in need of grooming. The Piston Bully was out and tilled the skate deck. The tracks were left in place and are in good condition.
