Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out at night grooming the man made trails. The classic track was left in place and is in great condition. Ring in the New Year by skiing on the freshly tilled skate deck.

As reported by groomer this morning, the 1.7k manmade loop had good skate conditions but a little slower due to the new snow. I also skied the groomed 6" snow on the natural snow lighted trails and it had surprisingly ok coverage.

It does not get any better than the conditions on the manmade loops this morning. The natural snow has bonded with the manmade snow base to create a perfect skating surface, created by the new Pisten Bully. Solid, straight, well formed tracks, also created by the PB, delighted the striders. A great ski day for beginners to experts.

I just tilled and set tracks on the complete 2.5 K man-made loop. It looks beautiful out there, it should be fabulous skiing today. The DNR has groomed the entire trail system off the man-made, skiing should be OK. Obviously we need more snow for better ski conditions. So everybody start doing the snow dance tonight as we put 2020 behind us. Happy happy new year to everyone!

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Conditions on the manmade loops are excellent for skate, though a bit soft and slow due to the new snow. New tracks looked very good. The rest of the system was groomed with mixed results - hence the rock ski designation.

Mother nature finally blessed southeast Wisconsin with 7 inches of high moisture snow. I just tilled and set tracks on the whole man-made loop, and it looks beautiful. For the skaters, the deck will be soft until we get cold weather and it sets up a bit.

Very nice skiing today on the snowmaking trails, but parts of the trail are blocked off for snowmaking - with some beautiful piles of new snow - and another part is in need of regrooming, due to work on knocking ice down from the trees. Creative loop variations requiring some out and back are the order of the day. This will change soon when the new piles are spread and the system groomed.

All the manmade snow trails are open and groomed. Excellent skate conditions. Tracks are solid, but aging. Snowmaking in progress on the Nordic playground is spilling over onto a bit of the trail.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The 2.5k man-made snow portion of the trail has been groomed as of 7am. About a 1/2" of fresh snow overnight has made for excellent conditions.

Groomer had spread snow on all of the manmade 1.7 K outside loop. Like yesterday, the ski conditions were fantastic but now more than 1K. I enjoyed the 71 feet of climbing on each lap of of the outside loop and recovering on the fun "magic carpet" downhill. Office reported that grooming is planned on Monday between 4am and 9am.
