Trail Detail
Notes
The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.Trail Reports

Lester remains in good condition. Some debris in the tracks and skate deck from the high winds, but easy to step around. Tracks remain good. Good coverage throughout without any bare spots.

Hard. Not recently groomed. Tracks are still firm and deep throughout and not icy. Some bark and leaves and needles came down in the wind, but there was almost no drifting. Seemed like the debris and drifted snow was worst in that short stretch between the upper parking area and the first intersection, so if you start there, don't despair. Most of the trail is a lot better than that.

Wonderful conditions at Lester tonight. Trails were groomed after the fluffy snowfall this past weekend. Skate deck was hard with good edge. Tracks were hard with firm pole plants on both sides. Small amount of leaf litter (easily navigated around) on the playground loop.

If you haven't ski a full moon, try to get out and do it. Lester was really fun with fast conditions. The temp was great, the speed was manageable, the tracks were solid, and the moon rising into the sky was awesome. Catch it if you can!. Your reward for climbing to the top from the pavilion is a speedy descent. Watch your corners and you will be smiling!

Hard and fast. Tracks are deep and rock hard. I wouldn't say they are icy, but I slipped a bit kicking up some of the hills on fish scales.

Groomed yesterday, great solid classic track, hard but just a little icy. Skate lane almost boiler plate but just enough texture for some purchase, just don't fall. We need more snow and or a really good tilling by the groomer.

Many thanks to the grooming crew out there today. Turned the ice rink into a pretty nice ski. Should make for nice skiing for the week.

After yesterday’s thaw and high winds, and last night’s freeze, trail has frozen deep skate tracks, some post-holes by walkers, and lots of debris. This made our short ski unpleasant and fairly dangerous. I won’t return before fresh snow and/or groom.
