Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

No grooming since Monday, but trails remain in good condition. Skate deck is firm and tracks are hard with decent pole plants.

Skied the lighted loops tonight (except the playground loop) and it was excellent. A little slow only because I was too lazy to scrape off the v50 leftover from the Noquemanon. Solid tracks and fresh grooming. One icy spot on a flat spot but plenty of track there to keep your skis in line to cruise right through it.

Beautifully groomed trails tonight at Lester. Looks like the city re-groomed the trails earlier today. Skate deck was very fast with a good edge. Tracks were rock hard and fast. No icy spots that I came across.

Morning

[ Good skis ]
The trails were freshly groomed as of 10:30 this morning. They were able to pack the skate deck pretty well however the light rain made skiing conditions pretty slow.

I skied under the lights in the snowfall! With the snow falling, I decided to classic ski which was the right choice. The skate deck had an inch or so on it, but with my skins, I could ski the tracks well! Beautiful evening.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I attempted to classic ski the lit loops again tonight but waxing proved too much of a challenge. With the fog/mist in the air it really changed the snow so hard waxes weren't working. I'm sure klister would have resulted in a great ski but I didn't feel like scraping it off afterwards. Either pack your waxless classic or your skate skis and you'll have a great time. Not iced up or anything so manageable speed and control on the downhills.

Fantastic conditions at Lester. Did the lit loops twice around and it was sublime. Per the city, they just groomed the trails this afternoon and it showed. Icy spots all covered up. Beautiful tracks all around.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
It looked like the trails had been groomed after it snowed yesterday, but the wind overnight did a number on the trails. The tracks were filled in in places with some drifting. There was a fair bit of debris on the trails and in the tracks, mostly sticks and leaves. I had no trouble skiing a couple laps, though, and it was pretty pleasant.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails are groomed! Lots of soft snow, tracks were good but a little soft. In more open parts, the tracks had pretty good snow drifts in them. Skied a good amount of the trails, appeared that the entire trail system is groomed!

Haven't skied yet but I walked the dog this afternoon around the park and the trails were groomed and fresh classic tracks set.
