Trail Reports

2020-2021 season
Reports 10 to 19 of 21    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Oct

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The trails are getting quite deteriorated and could really use some new snow. Mostly woodchips showing through but I wouldn't risk it with skis you care about.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Really excellent conditions. A few sections where the new wood chips were kicked up and exposed dirt, but all easy to spot and avoid. Great to see 10-15 other people out enjoying the trail as well!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great conditions this afternoon, complete with a nice machine groomed classic track that was holding up. Surprisingly amount of usage on the trails given they had been groomed this morning -- and five cars in the lot/side street at Poppyseed Dr! Trail on the field up by the school was a bit windblown, but the woods were great.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed and also set classic tracks for the first time this year. Could use some heavy wet snow to cover up every single stick - just a few trying to pop through on a couple of hills. Could use good skis with care IMO.

First time skier. Classic tracks were poor as they were scattered throughout the field. Didn't go back into the hills. Enough snow to ski. Some tree bark on the trails when parking on Poppyseed Dr entering the trail. The snow is starting to fall as I write this about 3pm so should be much better tomorrow if groomed. But what do I know, I'm a noob.

Classic skied trails this morning. Snow from Sunday was skied in - snow was really fast. Continued good coverage throughout the trail! Classic tracks on the fields - little too thin coverage for tracks in the woods. Grooming plans: We hope to groom Wednesday morning!

Firm and fast trails today. Lots of skiers out on the trails. Great ski with California Boy and friends.

Had a family ski this afternoon! Saw several others out enjoying the sunshine and snow! Trails were rolled yesterday and YTS packed today - Thanks to head groomer Gary! As said in other reports, trails are in very good shape - good coverage on almost all the trail. There are a couple hills that are windblown and have some wood chips showing through - but should not cause any damage to skis. Little better coverage on the two asphalt trail crossings - just use caution until we get some additional snow.

Beautiful conditions and coverage this morning. 99% of the trail is good enough for race skis, only said B skis because of one avoidable downhill. All the trails in the woods past the pillars are perfect. Too thin for classic tracks, big thanks to Gary who was out showing his true dedication grooming on Christmas morning!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Arrived late afternoon to find the trails had been packed. Deck was fairly firm and level. Most of the trail is in very good condition, with one downhill that has a fair amount of woodchips exposed, and a thin coat of snow on the two asphalt crossings. Nice to be out of the wind! No tracks set and skate would be ideal, but choose to classic with the single digit temps.
