Shout out to the groomers, they timed it beautifully between the thaw and the re-freeze. The skate deck was really firm with just enough corduroy for your skis to edge. After a while, the corduroy became a nice loose layer on top that made the downhills fast but very skiable. Bravo groomers!

Skied man-made loop, of course. What a great morning for skiing at Hyland! Got there at 9:00 AM and so happy to see the Christmas Elf Groomers had been out! Thank you Hyland! What a great way to spend Christmas morning out for a ski with friends!

Great Christmas ski! Did the willow creek and frog town loop. Classic tracks were a bit slippery on the hills. Overall, the trails were in awesome condition considering the fluctuating temperature lately.

Great morning for a ski. Trails held up pretty good from yesterday's warmth. Classic tracks were icy in areas. North facing slopes held up best.

Star, Willow, Frog Town and newly open Scenic Foothills were in very good condition with only the uphills a little chewed up with moderate amounts of loose snow. It was 30 to 32 degrees and sunny. I used FastWax Blue LF which may have been a little too cold. Parking lot in front of the trailhead building was nearly full but trails were not crowded - no dodging high school racers with my 9:40 start. Unlike Tuesday, I was happy that I was able to skate all the climbs except coming up from the bottom of Scenic Foothills when I slowed to a walk on the intermediate flat followed by a partial skate on the succeeding climb to the summit.
