This morning we groomed Silver and Gold trails. We renovated the classic track and made a couple passes for skate. Leaves in the woods and a few bare spots in the prairie section.

Skied everything, except ski games, on both sides of the road. Skate deck was mostly snow covered with some bare spots. Snow cover was the best in the woods but there were lots of leaves on the trails in the woods. The snow was very transformed and surprisingly fast. Trails on the south side of the road were less skied in but had more bare spots. As temperatures drop it may be getting icy.

We will not be grooming Battle Creek West until temps drop below freezing which looks like Thursday night. We plan on grooming Friday morning at least the Silver trail and the rest of the trails including Ski Games by Saturday morning. Merry Christmas!

I skied the entire system this morning. The trails are holding up nicely. Lots of oak leaves on the tails. Ski games was in the best condition with very few oak leaves.

Gold , Silver, Bronze and Ski Games trails groomed for skating--excellent conditions. Existing classic track mostly very good in the open, but in the woods it's about 50/50 good/oak leaves; there are a lot of leaves!

After grooming I skied sections of the Silver and Bronze, then tried out the Ski Games trails as well. All in very good condition. Used my B skis, but even with some sections of significant leaf debris I would have been fine with A skis.

Groomed Silver, Bronze and Ballfield this morning. The trail start area is a little thin, but otherwise the rest of the system is in very good skiing condition. Good skis should be fine with just a few dirt spots that are easily avoidable. Leaf debris continues to be an issue, especially when blowing into the classic tracks. Gold and Ski Games trails were re-groomed yesterday and are holding up well. Enjoy!

Stopped by this afternoon while the sun was shining. Great ski weather, not so great trail. Icy in the not-recently groomed areas. Lots of leaf debris which hid some minor dirt patches, so don't use your best skis. Nice to get out on the hills, would have stayed longer if I wasn't so protective of my good skis. Will try again after the next big snow.

The 5K Silver Trail was groomed this morning. There were just a few segments were the tracks were reset. The existing classic tracks were holding up well. We did shovel some snow to cover exposed weeds and debris. Skate deck was worked to take out skate ruts and flatten out the trail. I would rate Battle Creek ok for good skis, for sure B skis.

The skate deck was firm with new cord and able to maintain a good edge. Walkers are doing their best ruin the trails. Also looks like an atv made a round as well. That said, the deck is in good shape with oak leaves and a few grass patches.
