Once again, the Battle Creek team had the trails in great condition and hats off to John and his team for an awesome season. The man made snow trails were fast, with a few icy spots and the tracks were well formed throughout the entire 3.2 k loop. Everyone I talked to today agree the skiing was fantastic! It has been such a wonderful season and to still be skiing this late in the season is truly a gift.

Great skiing continues at BC. Ice patches that were present on Tuesday had mostly been groomed out. Underlying deck was overall icier but nothing that is going to chew up your edges. Tracks looked to be mainly ice, so bring your gold klister or skins if you want to kick. Snow is starting to take on a much more off white appearance, and is looking quite thin on the A climb.

Fantastic ski trails again today. Snow was cold and fast. Just a couple of melt spots but none in critical corners. Classic tracks are rock solid! How long can we go?

Manmade snow loop was in good condition midmorning. While the ice patches are are becoming more numerous, they are small and mostly avoidable. Snow was slightly dirty entering the woods on the A climb, but was otherwise white corduroy.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Groomed the man made loop and set new classic tracks late night. The conditions remain quite good with the exception of some icy areas. The tracks aren't quite as pretty as they are in mid season but should still provide some good skiing.

Another quality outing at BC this morning. Occasional icy spots in the track were easy enough to deal with, as 99% was very good to excellent. Groomers continue to work magic wringing out the last bits of the season.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
New grooming and classic tracks on the man made snow loops with the exception on the A-2 climb. Under the corduroy is a very hard and in numerous spots an icy base. The classic tracks are not as perfectly formed as normal due to the hard surface underneath. Each day the frequency of icy spots increases. Skiers should still be able to enjoy good conditions by avoiding the icy spots. None of the natural snow trails will be groomed for the remainder of the season nor will the A-2 climb. Best conditions will be found in the morning before the sun gets to work in earnest but still pretty darn good for March 27th.

Snowmaking loops were just about perfect at 8:30 a.m. even A1 (A2 not attempted, looks like rock ski conditions to me). You can't pay these groomers enough - thank you BC crew again and again and again. Now the question becomes, will we make it to April?

Hats off to the groomers! Snowmaking trails were soft but covered with just a couple ice spots to go around. Some climbs had ice under a thick layer of loose snow, which was more sugary than mashed potatoes at 9am. The first half of A climb was thinner snow over ice. The second half (elephant's butt) was a thin crust over ice, it's days are numbered and you might want rock skis. Gold was a real mixed bag, some absolutely fantastic sections (better than the snowmaking loops) interrupted by trail-wide ice and one dirt patch on the long straight middle climb (see photo). Since that climb always kicks my butt, I didn't mind taking my skis off for a little walk and photos. A number of the ice stretches were basically impossible to go around without fighting bramble and collecting burrs. The fast downhill turns were actually ok, just snowplow wakes and a bit rutted but no ice. Silver has better coverage but ice too. Spring skiing at it's best, thank you BC crew!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The man made snow loops were groomed early this morning including new classic tracks set. The conditions could be described as good. There are a few icy areas and the A2 climb is in poor condition. The air temperature was just below freezing as the snow was being worked so the surface is somewhat soft and not likely to firm up much before the warm air of later in the day gets to work. The 6:30 am early birds seemed to be enjoying the trail. We plan to continue grooming until it no longer makes sense to do so. Something has gone amiss with our trail light control, hence the lights may not be on.
